sense of belonging – poem

I know your voice, it sounds so tender
I feel music from your tongue
The way you say each word &
Wait for me to fill up with suspense
While I watch around the streets
& think
We might see the same side of the moon
Just with a different scenery

You laugh when I tell
I’d like to see you dance
We would dance together
Or play voyagerists
Of one another
Drink Aperol Spritz because I never did
& you said it’s the best drink
& all i think of is

how much
I’d like to be In Italy

We are lucky ones, we can consider ourselves happy because we’re here
Because we get to live differently & I sit in the staircase & think how right you are
